Goodbye
After 10 years, I have now (November 2012) decided to close this website down. In recent years
the number of visitors, and emails, has been steadily falling. I think - or at least hope -
this is because there are now fewer dubious fuel "saving" products around. Perhaps the
authorities are clamping down on them more, perhaps the sheer complexity of modern cars puts
people off fiddling with them, or perhaps motorists are just better informed.
Whatever the reason, it seems that the need for this site has largely gone away, and with a
young family to consider, I really can't justify the time or the hosting charges any more.
To be honest, I can also do without the stress of arguing with people who accuse me - sometimes
in rather "robust" language - of being ill-informed, in the pay of oil companies, close-minded or
just plain stupid. I can also do without the threats of legal action; while I have always been
confident of winning a court case, defending oneself against such actions can be extremely
expensive. (Just to be clear, I am not closing this site down due to any specific threat or
pressure from any one person or organisation.)
So, thanks to all the people who have supported me over the years, and best wishes to all
my readers, both recent and from a long time ago.
For now I will keep the domain active, but it may disappear in the near future. For a short
while I will also still be contactable at mail2 (at) fuelsaving (dot) info but in
most cases you will only receive a standard "sorry, I'm not doing this any more" response.
