How you can help

If these pages have been helpful or interesting to you, and you want to help me spread the message to others, the most useful thing you can do is to link to them - either on your own page (if it is relevant) or on discussion groups / bulletin boards. If you see people criticising these pages on bulletin boards, please tell me - either I have made a genuine error (in which case I need to fix it) or perhaps I need to explain something better. Either way, if I don't know I can't do anything about it.

If you spot an obvious error on these pages, also please let me know so I can correct it.

But I also have to ask for financial help. Running this site costs me about £50 (US$80) per year, just in hosting charges - not to mention several hundred hours of my time. I refuse on principle to put adverts here, since the "context sensitive" technology invariably means I'd be advertising exactly the devices I advise you not to buy! Hence, any financial contribution you could make to my PayPal account would greatly help me to keep this service running:

(Quite apart from anything else, think how much money I have saved you with the fuel-saving tips given here...)

Seriously, some people seem to think I am just running this site as a money-making venture, and take thousands of pounds (or US$) a year. While donations do slightly more than cover the running costs (such as hosting charges), the "profit" amounts to just a few pence (cents) an hour for the work I put in - if I wanted to make money, I would be better off working at McDonald's.
